## When is ProfitMetrics the better choice?

ProfitMetrics can be the cheaper choice when you have high ad spend and few orders, because it charges per order, not per ad spend.

- You spend a lot on ads but have few orders a month.
- You only need profit conversion values, not product-level analysis.

## When is Product Metrics the better choice?

Product Metrics is the better choice when you run Shopping or Performance Max and need to know why each product performs.

- You sell high-volume, low-margin products and need POAS to check whether strong ROAS also produces profit.
- You need competitor price, stock, margin and the customer journey side by side for every product.
- You don’t have margin data yet. Product Metrics works on ROAS first and switches to POAS once you connect margins.
- You want machine learning to segment each product into six segments by ad clicks and ROAS or POAS against your target, with minimum-click thresholds that keep segments stable.
- You sell own-brand products with no shared GTIN but still want competitor price matching.

## Can you use Product Metrics and ProfitMetrics together?

Yes, but they overlap: both send profit values to Google Ads and Meta, so let one tool send them. Product Metrics adds which products get the budget and explains the outliers.

If you connect your ecommerce platform to Product Metrics, your segments use POAS as well. Both tools can write Merchant Center custom labels.

## How do you get started with Product Metrics?

Connect your accounts, review your products and approve the labels you want to use. You can keep an existing feed tool or CSS.

1. **Connect your accounts.** Log in with Google and connect Google Ads, Merchant Center and your shop. GA4 is optional.
2. **Review segments and product context.** Review the six ML segments alongside competitor prices, margin, stock and journeys. Use ROAS first, or POAS once margins are connected.
3. **Approve your labels.** Choose which labels reach Merchant Center. If another tool writes labels, give each tool its own custom-label slot.

## What else do people ask about Product Metrics and ProfitMetrics?

### What is POAS?

POAS (profit on ad spend) is profit divided by ad spend. A POAS of 2 means €2 of profit for every €1 spent on ads, and 1 is break-even.

### Is POAS the same in both tools?

Both define POAS as profit divided by ad spend, with break-even at 1. ProfitMetrics’ own definition also counts costs such as shipping, payment fees and returns; Product Metrics uses the margins you connect.

### Does Product Metrics change bids or prices?

No. It writes the labels you approve and sends conversion values; Google Ads and Meta set the bids. It never changes a price.

### Which is cheaper?

Neither is cheaper in every case: Product Metrics is priced on Shopping spend, ProfitMetrics on orders. With Product Metrics the first €10K is free and €50K of spend costs €247.50 a month, excl. VAT. On ProfitMetrics’ Shopify listing, as an example, 1,500 orders a month cost $32 + 1,500 × $0.1417 ≈ $244.55. The two examples are different shops and currencies, so compare using your own spend and order count.

### Does ProfitMetrics also write custom labels to Merchant Center?

Yes. Shopping Booster writes custom_label_0 to custom_label_4 to a Merchant Center product feed, based on clicks. Product Metrics writes only the labels you approve.
