# Compare products the way your customers do.

Define what matters in your branch, or spar with AI to work it out. Compare competing own-brand products by style, colour, and custom dimensions to understand your price position.

Nike Pegasus 42 (€139.99 list price), example:

| | Value |
| --- | --- |
| Comparable adidas & PUMA trainers | 4 |
| Matched median | €129.98 |
| Price position | 4 of 5 |
| Price ratio | 1.08 |
| Price difference | +€10.01 |

_Example scenario with Nike products. Performance data is illustrative. Product Metrics is not affiliated with Nike, adidas or PUMA. List price from nike.com/nl, checked 30 Sep 2026._

## Compare your products against your competitors. Review options and prices like your customers do.

GTIN matching looks for the same barcode elsewhere. A Pegasus 42 has no twin on adidas.nl or eu.puma.com/nl, so it comes back empty. Switch the match key and watch the same pipeline find four comparable trainers.

2. Match key
3. Scan sites
4. Match
5. Position & label

_Price position becomes a Merchant Center label your rules can use._

## From one Nike product to its price position. In seven steps.

AI suggests the dimensions, you approve them, adidas.nl and eu.puma.com/nl get scanned, and own-brand alternatives are matched. The Pegasus 42 gets a price position that feeds its priority.

1. **Start from your product.** Nike Pegasus 42, €139.99. Own brand: no shared GTIN, nothing identical to look up.
2. **Spar with AI on what matters.** AI proposes six dimensions shoppers weigh for daily trainers, with the source of each.
3. **Refine and approve.** Keep, edit or drop dimensions. Only approved ones guide matching. Try unticking one.
4. **Scan competitor sites.** adidas.nl and eu.puma.com/nl are scanned for own-brand daily trainers.
5. **Match own-brand alternatives.** Per-dimension chips show why each trainer is comparable, and where it differs.
6. **Reveal your price position.** See where €139.99 sits among real list prices and against the matched median.
7. **Feed product priority.** Market position joins Product Context and becomes a Merchant Center label.

## You define what matters. AI helps.

Every niche compares on different things. Running shoes on drop, cushioning and plate, sofas on seat depth, coffee on roast and origin. Name them yourself, or let AI propose them from your product data.

- **Your words, your niche.** Add dimensions like drop, stack height or width: whatever your category is judged on.
- **Spar with AI.** Get suggestions from your products and niche. Keep what fits, rewrite what doesn’t.
- **You approve before anything matches.** Only approved dimensions guide matching. Change them any time.

## Price position becomes a performance signal. Not a price tag.

A €10 gap means little on its own. Next to POAS, margin and stock it explains why the Pegasus 42 gets the clicks but misses its POAS target. Market position joins the Product Context behind your scores, segments and ad priorities.

1. **Market position.** Pegasus 42 vs 4 comparable adidas and PUMA daily trainers. (Price position 4 of 5, price ratio 1.08, price difference +€10.01)
2. **Product Score.** Weights you set in Product Score.
3. **Segment and label.** High clicks, POAS below target, priced above comparable trainers. Now you know why.
4. **Google Ads.** Merchant Center labels carry market context into PMax and Shopping. Your rules decide what it changes.

Product Score weights (set by you, example):

| Factor | Weight |
| --- | --- |
| Price Competitiveness | 25% |
| Profit Margin | 30% |
| Inventory Level | 20% |
| Return Rate | 15% |
| Delivery Speed | 10% |

## Questions about Competitor Prices

### What is competitor price tracking?

Competitor price tracking means checking what competitors charge for comparable products and comparing it with your own prices. Competitor Prices does this for own-brand products: it matches them with competitors’ own-brand alternatives, shows your price position against the matched median, and stays current with the Price Monitoring add-on.

### What is price intelligence?

Price intelligence is collecting competitor prices and turning them into context for pricing and advertising decisions. Here it means your price position next to POAS, margin and stock for each product, so you can see why a product gets clicks but misses its POAS target. Product Metrics does not recommend or change prices.

### How is this different from other price monitoring software?

Many price monitoring tools match products by GTIN, which finds nothing for own-brand products, or need competitor URLs mapped by hand. Competitor Prices matches on dimensions you approve and connects the result to Google Shopping performance. It does not reprice, and prices are compared without shipping costs.

### How can you compare products that share no GTIN?

A Nike Pegasus 42 and an adidas Supernova Rise 3 have different barcodes, so GTIN matching finds nothing. Product Metrics compares on the dimensions shoppers weigh: use, cushioning, drop, plate, weight and colour, or any custom dimension you approve. Every match shows which dimensions agree and which differ.

### Does it only work with two competitor sites?

No. adidas.nl and eu.puma.com/nl are the example on this page, not a limit. Competitor Prices scans the competitor sites relevant to your niche and discovers their own-brand products for you.

### Are shipping costs included in the comparison?

No. Prices are compared without shipping costs, so every product in a category is compared on its price alone.

### Will Product Metrics change my prices?

Your prices stay yours. Product Metrics shows your price position and how it relates to product performance, margin and stock. Your team makes every pricing decision, and your feed prices change only when you change them.

### What do price position, price ratio and price difference mean?

Price position is your rank among the comparable products, counting yourself, where 1 is the cheapest: with six competitors it runs from 1 to 7. Price ratio is your price divided by the matched median. Price difference is your price minus the matched median, shown in red when you are more expensive and green when you are cheaper. The Pegasus 42 at €139.99 has price position 4 of 5, price ratio 1.08 and price difference +€10.01 against the €129.98 median.

### How does price position reach my Google Ads campaigns?

Market position becomes part of Product Context. It feeds the Price Competitiveness weight in Product Score and is exported as a Merchant Center custom label, such as custom_label_2: above_median when your price difference is positive, that your Performance Max and Shopping campaigns can use.

### Is the Nike example real data?

The products and list prices are real: nike.com/nl and eu.puma.com/nl, checked on 30 September 2026. adidas prices marked ≈ are EU launch prices because adidas.nl could not be checked automatically. Clicks, POAS, margin and stock are illustrative. Product Metrics is not affiliated with Nike, adidas or PUMA.
